Taxi and tourist drivers in Albufeira will learn more about the history, heritage and cultural and touristic offer of the county, through the initiative “Conhecer e Valorizar”, which restarts this Wednesday, with the opening session scheduled for 14 pm , at the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, in Albufeira. The action runs until March 00th.

It is a training program that had its first edition in 2013 and aims to “improve the knowledge of professionals directly or indirectly linked to tourism, in terms of culture, sports infrastructure, events, milestones, monumental and historical heritage and landscape, among other topics of interest so that they can provide quality information to those who visit the county».

The initiative, which results from a partnership with the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School and Albucoop – Albufeira Taxi Cooperative, is, this year, aimed in particular at taxi and tourist drivers.

The opening session, which is scheduled for 14 pm, at the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library, will address essential aspects of tourist activity, from entertainment, promotion and tourist information about the municipality of Albufeira to generic information about the main entities and services related to the tourism.

The program will run until the 10th of March and bets on a model that privileges the acquisition of knowledge through visits to various facilities and areas of cultural, environmental and scenic interest.

In this edition, the Municipality of Albufeira will reinforce some themes that it considers of interest to this professional class, especially with regard to knowledge of the coastal area and beaches of the municipality, golf courses, spas and health.

The Municipality provides transport, as well as the monitoring of visits by technicians from the municipality with specific training under the program.

The Chamber warns that the dates now disclosed "may undergo adjustments due to climate change".
