Tavira will offer music on the first weekend of 2014, a way to celebrate the arrival of a new year, while marking Twelfth Night. Saturday and Sunday there are concerts to see in two churches in the city, both with free admission.

On Saturday, the Câmara de Tavira, which organizes the events, welcomes the new year with the concert «Damas de São Carlos in Quinteto: Waltzes of the Strauss Family», which will take place at Igreja do Carmo, at 21 pm. «As Damas de São Carlos in Quintet» is a chamber music String Orchestra made up of members of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, namely, Veliyana Hristova – Violin I; Ewa Michalska – Violin II; Etelka Dudas – Viola; Diana Savova – Cello; and Anita Hinkova – Double bass.

Twelfth Night is celebrated, in advance, on Sunday, January 5th, with the performance of Grupo Coral de Tavira, at the Igreja de Misericórdia, from 21 pm. The Tavirense musical training will be directed by professors Carlos Filipe Ferro de Sousa and João António Baptista de Almeida.
