The Deputy Secretary of State to the Minister of Health visits and officially inaugurates, this Friday, January 10th, the Long-Term Continuous Care and Maintenance Unit of Estoi, in the municipality of Faro, and from Aljezur.

Fernando Leal da Costa's visit begins at 10 am with the official inauguration of the Milreu Long-Term Integrated Continued Care and Maintenance Unit, in Estoi, in the municipality of Faro.

The new unit, with a capacity of 40 beds, managed by the Fundação Algarvia de Desenvolvimento Social, occupies a total gross area of ​​3.161,86 square meters, spread over three floors, and a landscaping area of ​​1.070,00 square meters.

The unit represents a global investment of 2.529.488 euros, having been financed by the Ministry of Health, under the Model II Program, for the components "buildings and technical facilities" and "equipment", with an amount of 750.000 euros.

At 15 pm, the Secretary of State will travel to Aljezur to visit and officially inaugurate the new Long-Term Continuous Care and Maintenance Unit (ULDM) in this town on the Costa Vicentina.

This unit, managed by Casa da Criança do Rogil – Association for the Social, Cultural and Sport Promotion of Children of Rogil, with capacity for 25 beds, occupies a useful area of ​​about 1 square meters, representing a total investment of 500, 1,8 million euros.

It was also financed by the Ministry of Health, under the Modeling II Programme, for the components "buildings and technical facilities", "equipment" and "studies and projects", with an amount of 750.000 euros.

With the inauguration of these two units, all Units of the National Network for Integrated Continued Care built and financed under the Model II Program of the Ministry of Health in the Algarve region will start operating.

The Regional Health Administration (ARS) of the Algarve says that it intends, «in a rigorous and sustained manner, to continue the implementation of the Integrated Continuous Care Network in the Algarve Region».

Currently, the Algarve has a total of 497 inpatient beds divided into different types for the continued care of dependent people.
