Between February 11th and 15th, the Municipal Market of Portimão, on Av. S. João de Deu, promotes for the seventh consecutive year the Festa da Laranja, during which customers will have the opportunity to purchase the juicy Algarve orange at a very good price. appealing, being able to also participate in demonstrations and culinary tastings.

During this week, for each purchase of 3 kg or more of orange, buyers will receive a tasting voucher, and from 09:30 am to 13:00 pm, they will be able to try the proposals presented by students in the Cooking and Pastry, Restaurant-Bar, and Management courses. Hotel, Catering and Drinks at the Hotel and Tourism School of Portimão, which in addition to tastings will also carry out cooking demonstrations, from simple juice or crepe, to more elaborate dishes and drinks.

In the afternoon, between 17:00 pm and 20:00 pm, customers will have the opportunity to drink a tasty and vitamin-rich natural orange juice, prepared by the operators of the Fruit and Vegetables Sector. Pharmacy Rosa Nunes carries out an action to raise awareness for the adoption of healthy eating habits, highlighting the importance of Vitamin C in the body.

For Valentine's Day, February 14, the Portimão School of Hotel and Tourism has scheduled a demonstration and special tasting of orange bonbons and chocolate truffles.

On the following day, February 15th, Andreia Daniel, Zumba instructor, will teach a class of this dance outside the Market, near the main entrance, as a way of raising awareness about the regular practice of physical activity, associated with healthier eating habits.

Organized by Portimão Urbis, the managing entity of Traditional Markets and Fairs, and by the commission of operators in the Fruit and Vegetable Sector, since the very beginning, Festa da Laranja has had the successful partnership of the Portimão Hotel and Tourism School – Turismo de Portugal , having in the six previous editions registered a great receptivity among consumers, with a global sale of 40 tonnes.

In 2014, the initiative will once again count on the support for dissemination by Rádio Costa D'Oiro and also brings together the support of Farmácia Rosa Nunes, from the Bread and Cakes Sector, and Café Grilo, an establishment that will combine its famous bifanas with an orange juice and a coffee for just 3 euros.
