Journalist Carlos Albino, an inseparable figure from the Carnation Revolution, will preside over the Council Committee for the 40th Anniversary of the 25th of April, approved in a council session.
This Commission will carry out a set of initiatives that mark and remember this event and, at the same time, promote among the youngest, in a pedagogical way, the fundamental values of what was one of the most important and decisive historical moments in the Country.
Born in Loulé, Carlos Albino was directly linked to the unfolding of the events of April 25, 1974, as he was responsible for issuing the password for the beginning of the military operations that would overthrow the dictatorial regime, through Programa Limite, on Rádio Renascença . The recorded reading of the first stanza of the song “Grândola, Vila Morena”, by José Afonso, confirmed the coup and the advance of the armed forces.
Along with the journalist, all directors of school groups in the municipality will be part of this Commission (AE Drª Laura Ayres, AE Padre Cabanita, AE Engº Duarte Pacheco, AE D. Dinis and AE de Almancil), the directors of the Secondary School of Loulé, Professional School of Alte and International College of Vilamoura, representatives of cultural associations in the Municipality of Loulé, Luís Guerreiro, Dália Paulo and Luísa Martins, representing the Loulé Autarchy, and representing civil society, Luís Guedes, João dos Santos Simões and António Clarity.
