The Chamber of Castro Marim continues to bet on the "war" on obesity, a disease that is "considered as the epidemic of the XNUMXst century" and has once again put into operation the Office of Counseling and Prescription of Physical Exercise, in partnership with the Regional Administration of Algarve Health.
This is the third consecutive year of operation of the program, which has the support of local associations and is monitored by physical education technicians from the municipality.
The action of the Cabinet, which operates weekly during the school year, on Thursdays and Fridays, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, «is aimed at the entire population of Castro-Armarin, in particular at people who are at risk of pre-obesity and obesity , who will be advised to exercise according to the characteristics of the individual».
This service is installed at the Guadiana Health Unit, in Castro Marim, and works closely with the family doctor, the Family Health Office, the School Health Office and a nutritionist,
The initiative is part of the «Fight Against Obesity in the Algarve» program, aims to combat this disease, awakening the community to the benefits of physical activity, self-esteem enrichment, combating sedentary lifestyles and improving health and well-being, based on physical exercise.
