More than 700 athletes will compete next Saturday, starting at 16 pm, in the «Grande Prix of the Kings», the already traditional athletics competition that Faro welcomes every year, in the first days of January. The 2014 edition, the 44th, will feature participants from Portugal, Finland, Estonia, Russia and Germany, among others.
Departure and arrival will take place at Jardim Manuel Bívar, with passages through Cidade Velha, Largo de São Francisco, Pontinha and Rua de Santo António.
In competition, there will be athletes from different age groups. Participants of different ages leave at different times, with Benjamins A being the first to hit the track at 16 pm, followed by Benjamins B (16:10), Infants (16:20 pm), Initiates/Youths (16:30 pm), Juniors/ Seniors/ Female Veterans (16:45) and Juniors/ Seniors/ Male Veterans (17:15).
The initiative, organized by the Algarve Athletics Association and the Municipality of Faro, is part of the Regional Road Championship and is the most prestigious competition in regional athletics and one of the oldest competitions at national level.
