The executive of the City Council of Faro yesterday, December 3rd, a group of 30 young representatives from 21 countries in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa visited the International Training “Youth Takes the Floor”, an initiative organized by ECOS-Cooperativa de Education, Cooperation and Development.

The training began on November 29 and will last until December 6, and aims to enable participants to develop various skills for the creation and promotion of spaces where young people can work together with local authorities in the development youth policies and local strategies for the development of their communities.

The first edition of this course launched by ECOS, organized in partnership with the School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve had a huge following, with more than 300 applications being received for the 20 places initially foreseen for the course, then increased to 30 .

These 30 young people from countries such as Egypt, Palestine, Morocco, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Spain, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Portugal were welcomed by the president of the Chamber Rogério Bacalhau and by the vice president Paulo Santos, at the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho.

Here they had the opportunity to attend a presentation about the organization and functioning of the Municipality, in particular, the Youth Service, followed by a moment of debate that was very dynamic and interesting, due to the particular interest shown by these young, youth leaders of different organizations in their countries, to know the youth policies developed by the Municipality of Faro.
