The State Budget for 2014 «does not serve the interests of the Algarve», concluded the PS/Algarve, after the sessions promoted in the Algarve on this document, last weekend.

After the contributions given by the national secretary of the PS Álvaro Beleza and the vice president of the Parliamentary Group of the PS in the Assembly of the Republic, Pedro Marques, in the sessions that took place in Quarteira and Portimão, the Algarvian socialists came to publicly reinforce the warning made «before the elections authorities'.

"The Government wants to hide from the Portuguese the cuts in pensions and pensions, cuts in salaries for civil servants, cuts in family income, cuts in education and cuts in the national health service", in a press release from the PS Algarve Federation.

"All these cuts, added to the maintenance of the biggest tax increase in memory, make for dark days for companies and families in our region, as well as for local authorities in the Algarve", add the Algarve socialists.

António Eusébio added that the "great objective" of the conferences that the PS/Algarve held was "to analyze and clarify all regional structures, whether militants or sympathizers, or all those who do not agree with the policies imposed by the current government, feel the need to clarify so that they can regain hope in Portugal».

"In due time, the PS will present its proposals, coming as no surprise to anyone that they will include the reduction of the restoration VAT to 13 percent, as well as the reinstatement of the safeguard clause that limits the increase in IMI to 75 euros," he added. the PS.

The Socialists also announce that they will present “in the budget proposals to support Portuguese companies, namely with regard to the payment of overdue debts by the State to companies”.

"According to recent data from the Ministry of Finance, the total of late payments is about 3 billion euros (3.000 billion euros) that are owed to companies and are lacking in the economy," they illustrated.

«We live in challenging times. Today, more than ever, the country needs a demanding but mobilizing vision. This debate made clear the existence of two distinct visions for Portugal. Democracy only gains with the existence of alternatives», concluded the Algarve PS.
