Portinado won by 4-11 the AD Oeiras team (ex. Talaíde), in the first round of the 2nd Division Water Polo National Championship.

The Algarve team won and convinced, despite the reconstruction phase it is going through, after having decided, for financial reasons, abandon the 1st National Division. The return of some older players who have been away in recent years, joined by other players from the past season, allows us to form a group where experience and youth predominates, but also some irreverence.

The team's short three weeks of preparation were particularly noticeable at the physical level, but it was the athletes' class and experience that stood out.

The Portinado team was the fair winner of a game that was expected to be difficult, taking into account that AD Oeiras is one of the serious candidates for promotion to the 1st Division.

This victory and the previous one against Coral de Reguengos, in the team's presentation game last week, shows, according to those responsible for the Portimão team, that «Portinado has all the conditions to qualify for the final phase of the championship, that it will oppose the first three classified from the north and south zone».

Portinado's team consisted of athletes: Mykola Yanochko, André Faustino, Francisco Borralho (2 goals), Mário Palma (1 goal), Márcio Cabecinha, Tiago Oliveira (2 goals), Ruben Figueiredo, João Fernandes, Gheandie Buzulan, Cristiano Joaquim (6 goals), Márcio Cabecinha and Miguel Plácido.
Delegate: Paulo Figueiredo, Coach: Jorge Santos
