Vítor Guerreiro took office as mayor of São Brás de Alportel, for a term of continuity, where the challenge is “to find solutions to new problems”, in particular the social ones, which arise “every day”.
Considering that being a mayor, nowadays, «is a mission that requires courage and determination», the newly inaugurated São Brasense mayor promised «the continuation of a demanding, rigorous work, with many difficulties, but always with the same objective : working for the sustainable development of São Brás de Alportel».
“We are facing a very difficult situation, an unprecedented crisis that has knocked on the doors of companies and families, continually demanding more responses and new strategies from us”, illustrated Vítor Guerreiro.
"But I am sure that we will overcome the difficulties and that we will take advantage of every opportunity, as we will never give up fighting for what we believe in and for what is best for our land and for our population," he added.
Putting people first was one of the mottos of Vítor Guerreiro's Swearing-in speech and was also at the center of the intervention of the new president of the Municipal Assembly. António Eusébio was elected as chairman of the Board of this body, after 12 years at the head of the Chamber's destinies.
"Today, as in the past, we must continue to fight for people's rights, as we will only defend the spirit of socialism and social democracy, respecting the great men of the past and continuing to fight for São Brás de Alportel," he said.
Vítor Guerreiro takes a county with its bills up to date and without debts, something that, he said, is to continue. The good financial health of the municipality even allows for the realization of work, but the priority assumed is social action.
With Vítor Guerreiro, the other councilors took office and were elected to the organs of the municipality of São Brás de Alportel. The executive is completed by PS councilors Marlene Guerreiro and Acácio Martins, who guarantee the majority to the socialists, and Rui Eusébio and Anabela Marcos, from the PSD.
David Gonçalves took office as president of the Parish Council of São Brás de Alportel, the only one in the municipality.
