São Brás de Alportel will join the Food Day celebrations, which is marked today, Wednesday, with a series of sessions "From nature to the plate", to be held at the Municipal Library until Friday and dedicated to students of the 1st cycle of the José Belchior Viegas School Group.

The actions are guided by dietitian Sónia Dias and aim to promote good eating practices. This is a concern officially assumed by the municipality of São Brás, which was one of the first in Portugal to join the international movements “Slow Food” and Cittaslow, whose basis is the promotion of typical recipes and local products, as well as a healthier lifestyle .

In the sessions, the narration of the tale “I'll never eat tomatoes in my life” starts the information sessions, proposing a fun approach to the theme of healthy eating/nutrition. This was followed by a presentation on the «importance of trying new foods, eating fruits, vegetables and vegetables, properly hydrating and reducing sweets and soft drinks».

The end of each action also reserves the delivery of a certificate of participation, as well as the commitment of those present to consume a piece of fruit every day.

The celebrations continue with the launch of the newsletter «Food & Nutrition», dedicated to food sustainability, consisting of useful tips and information that aim to «minimize the negative impact that our actions have on nature». This publication is available on the São Brasense autarchy website.
