A Meeting of Choirs, with the participation of the Ideias do Levante Choir (Lagoa) and the Vozart Chamber Choir (Faro), will take place on Saturday, October 19, at 21 pm, at the Convento S. José chapel, in Lagoa, as part of the “ConVento Levante” project, promoted by the Ideias do Levante association, in partnership with the Municipality of Lagoa.

The Vozart Chamber Choir, based in Faro, is characterized by a great versatility in the selection and interpretation of repertoire from various eras and styles, having also premiered works and harmonies by contemporary composers.

Since 2012, the year of its debut, it performed concerts at Igreja do Carmo in Faro, at the Cathedral of Silves, at the Municipal Museum of Faro, at Clube Farense, at the Auditorium of the Dom Afonso III Institute and at the Convento de Santo António, in Loulé.

He has collaborated with the Flute Ensemble of this city, and recently performed with the prestigious Ondrasek choir, from Nový Jičín (Czech Republic).

The Ideias do Levante Choir, headquartered in Lagoa (Algarve), was founded in 1996, becoming one of the hubs of Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa.

Initially under the direction of conductor Ricardo Carvalho, it was in January 1998, under the artistic direction of José Carlos Bago d'Uva, that the group began to work based on a renewed concept of “choir singing pedagogy”.

The choir had as assistant conductors Francisco Brazão (during 2003) and Maria Saramago (during 2012).

The Choir also had the privilege of being accompanied, on the piano, by Rute Simões, Lutz Kettnaker, Silvia Smeman, Alany Steiner, and Ricardo Coelho.

The Ideias do Levante Choir aims at the gradual progression, both technical and artistic, of the group, and parallel cultural promotion of the municipality of Lagoa and the region through polyphonic choral music.

It interprets a very eclectic repertoire as a means of pedagogical intervention and audience formation.

It has been, since November 2003, directed by artistic director Francisco Brazão.
The Choir rehearses every Wednesday, from 20:30 pm to 22:30 pm, at Sala do Coral, in the CEFLA – Center for Studies and Training of Lagoa (Lagoa) complex.

The show is recommended for people over 6 years old and will take place in a room with a maximum capacity of 100 seats.

Tickets can be purchased at the Convento S. José ticket office (Tel. 282380473), in Lagoa, until the 18th of October, and at the Convento S. José reception, on the day of the concert from 16 pm onwards.
