Ana Cabecinha, Ana Dias, Elly van Hulst, Hélder Costa, António Fortunato, António Silva, Carlos Cabral and Ezequiel Canário are some of the renowned athletes that tomorrow, Sunday, the 13th, will participate in the 13th Mamaratona, promoted by the Oncology Association of the Algarve (AOA ) and which departs at 10:00 am from the riverside area of Portimão, next to the old fish market.
The initiative is part of the international movement “Outubro Rosa”, warning against the scourge of breast cancer, and includes several events at the same time.
The Mamamarathon starts at 10:00 am and will take place along the Portimão Riverside Zone, starting and ending at the old Fish Market, on a route that varies between 5 and 8 kilometers, while the Mini-Mamamarathon (10 km) and the II Half Mamamarathon ( 21 km), aimed at federated athletes, are promoted in a partnership between the AOA and the Algarve Athletics Association, and entries must be made in www.aaalgarve.org.
Registration for the 13th Mamamarathon, the race that usually attracts the majority of participants, costs 5 euros for adults and 3 euros for children and also entitles you to a t-shirt, cap and promotional items.
These entries can be made until October 12th at the AOA headquarters or at Forum Algarve in Faro, as well as at the Continente Shopping Center in Portimão, at the Centro Hospitalar do Barlavento, at the old Lota building or at the event venue on the 13th, from 08:00 am to 09:45 am, in this case adding one euro to the initial amount.
In the case of the Mini-mammarathon (10 km), pre-registration costs 5 euros, increasing to 10 euros on the 12th and 15 euros on the day of the race.
On the other hand, registration for the 2nd Half Mamamarathon (21 km) is 7,5 euros pre-registration, rising to 15 euros on the 12th and to 20 euros on the day of the race, entitlement in both cases to t -shirt, cap, back and promotional items.
The 13th Mamamarathon has the institutional partnership of the Municipality of Portimão and aims to raise funds for the construction of a residence for patients undergoing treatment at the Radiotherapy Unit of Faro.
At the same time, the initiative highlights the importance of volunteering on the part of all entities that collaborate with the organization, such as the PSP, the Firefighters Volunteers of Portimão, the Portuguese Red Cross or the company “Promover a Vida”, which sponsors the pink t-shirts to be distributed to all participants.
