The natural and gastronomic attractions, festivals, traditions and heritage of the Algarve's municipalities are the theme of 16 special programs of 25 minutes each, broadcast on weekends by Porto Canal.

Until January 2014, the series «Destino Algarve» promotes the region's tourism offer to the public in Greater Porto and North.

The initiative is from the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) and intends to «stimulate the domestic market outside the high summer season», reveals the organisation's president.

For Desidério Silva, the bet “is justified by the weight of the North of Portugal among the main emitters of national tourists to the Algarve”.

Thus, the municipality of Albufeira will be highlighted this Saturday, the 26th, from 12 pm, on the various national platforms for the distribution of audiovisual content by cable broadcast by Porto Canal.

Emissions started by the district capital, Faro (05th), and have already been to São Brás de Alportel (12) and Alcoutim (19).

This is followed by Tavira, Lagos, Loulé, Vila Real de Santo António and Silves, in November.

In December it is the turn of the municipalities of Olhão, Vila do Bispo, Castro Marim and Portimão.

The series «Destino Algarve» ends in January with the broadcast of programs by Aljezur, Lagoa and Monchique.

The footage has the logistical support of the municipalities and the episodes are broadcast on Saturdays, repeating on Sundays and Wednesdays.
