The V3/Avenida Comunidade Lusíada has already partially reopened to traffic in the Simon Bolivar roundabout area, near Praia do Vau, in Portimão, but the repair work on the sewerage pipe continues. forced to cut traffic in this important access last week.

Teresa Fernandes, spokeswoman for the company Águas do Algarve, told the Sul Informação that two lanes on that avenue, which is the main access between the Rocha/Vau and Alvor areas, were reopened last Friday, after four days of total traffic interdiction.

"The ducts are already replaced and the sewer is running normally," he added. to what the Sul Informação found today at the site, two lanes were actually reopened, on the same side of the avenue, allowing the restricted circulation of car traffic.

However, the works are continuing, and on one side of Avenue V3, although the conduit has already been replaced, the ditch is still not covered, while on the other side, where the traffic is circulating, the area where it was opened the hole for repairing the pipeline is still in dirt, lacking tar.

«These areas will be covered with touvenant, for soil stabilization in the area where the intervention took place. It will take a week or two to see if the ground is stabilized and if there is no subsidence. Only then will the tar be placed on top”, said Teresa Fernandes, from Águas do Algarve.

A repair of breakage in the wastewater pipeline which crosses the V3 near the Simon Bolivar roundabout led, on Monday of last week, to Águas do Algarve cutting off traffic on that avenue. However, there was no interruption in the sewer system as a sleeve was placed to transport them from one side to the other.

In the first two days of the traffic cut, and because there was no indication of a detour, the situation caused some confusion, especially among tourists, who were unaware of the alternatives for accessing Alvor, until, on Wednesday of last week, the situation was finally corrected, through the placement of appropriate signage.
