From today, Friday, until the 27th of October, Loulé will receive the «Links – Crafts linked to the future».

The event will show the work that has been developed in «TASA – Ancestral Techniques, Current Solutions», project that brings together artisans and designers with the aim of giving new uses to handcrafted products, in a sharing of knowledge and creativity that brings generations together.

“Ligações” opens to the public today, at 20 pm, at CECAL – Center for Experimentation and Artistic Creation, in the Municipal Park of Loulé.

Over more than a month, the work that has been developed by the participants in this project of the Algarve Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDRA), launched in 2010 will be shown. In addition to (very) very original handicrafts, there will be music, workshops , gastronomy and debates, in addition to the creative residency «TASalém Fronteiras» which will bring together five Portuguese designers and five foreign designers, between 20 and 27 October.

The creatives will get to know the culture, techniques, materials and interact with artisans in order to create new TASA pieces. Also because this sharing of «knowledge, materials, tradition and innovation, art and use, origin and trends, past, present and future», as illustrated by the Câmara de Loulé, which promotes the event, is the basis of the project.

TASA has recently entered a new phase, where “special attention will be given to the component of marketing the products”, as recently revealed by the president of David Santos.

For this, a young Algarve company, ProActiveTur, an ecotourism company that insists on seeing the traditions and culture of the Algarve, especially from the interior of the Algarve, was invited to join the project promoted by this entity, in addition to the artisans and designers. region, an asset to your activity.

In this logic, the company will boost sales outlets for this craft with a very modern perspective and with a view to the future, namely along the Via Algarviana, one of the mainstays of ProActiveTur's activity. The event that starts today, organized by the company, is another way to achieve this goal.

Lots to see and things to do.

This Friday, the program focuses on music and artistic interventions, which will invite you to discover TASA's artefacts and the path established between raw materials and pieces, traditional uses and new uses, between the past and the present and between materials.

All around «Empreita e wickerwork», «Linen and wool», «Land, clays and clays», «Cork» and «Cane, wood and plant materials».

Starting tomorrow, visitors will be able to experience what it is to be an artisan, in three workshops that will be promoted on different days.

This Saturday, techniques for working with clay will be taught, on October 12th there is the opportunity to learn how to make music with nature, while on the 19th of next month, the art of making wooden toys will be taught.

“The idea is to provide a friendly, playful and educational afternoon in the shade of the leafy trees of the municipal park. A get-together that could be enlivened by a family picnic, recalling traditional picnics, but prepared by a chef», revealed the Câmara de Loulé.

On October 5th, at 10 am, another highlight of the event takes place, also linked to gastronomy, but in the Municipal Market of Loulé.

In this "Ligações" initiative, TASA products will be linked to tasting activities, which include the preparation of delicacies.

The debate is also present in the event's program, in the sessions «Conversas em Três Tempos», which will focus on the past, the present and the future, on the 2nd, 18th and 26th of October, respectively.

October 11th is dedicated to showing how it is possible to link handicrafts to tourism, enriching each other. Industry professionals will be invited to participate in an experience program on the traditional arts route. And at the end of the afternoon there will be a debate and moments of entertainment.
