Vila Real de Santo António is associated with the celebrations in honor of Nossa Senhora das Angústias, which take place between the 5th and 9th of September, in Ayamonte.
The initiative – integrated in the Eurocity events calendar – takes place this Wednesday, September 4th, and begins with the reception of the Spanish delegation at the VRSA Shipping Pier, at 18:15.
At 18 pm, a band from Portugal and another from Spain will play the National Anthems in front of the Vila Real de Santo António municipality, where the flag-raising ceremony will take place and the welcome session will take place, led by the mayors of VRSA and Ayamonte.
A new route continues to the VRSA loading dock where the delegation will cross the river Guadiana to Ayamonte.
In the Spanish town, the ceremony continues with a street parade to the headquarters of the Ayuntamiento, where the Anthems of both countries will be played again.
The initiative ends with solemn speeches and the official inauguration of the Angustias festivities, which will be symbolically marked by the lighting of the Ayamontina festival grounds.
