The independent application «Save Faro, with the Heart” believes that it is essential to deepen the cooperation between the Chamber and the Academic Association, for the benefit of Faro, the University and the students'. The movement led by José Vitorino and which supports his candidacy for mayor met with the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg), with which he claims to have reached an «almost total» consensus for a possible protocol to promote Faro as a university town.

At a weekend meeting, which brought together the president of AAUAlg Filipa Silva and various elements of José Vitorino's candidacy, «the relevant importance of the University and its students in the economic, social and cultural life of Faro, which makes promotional actions imperative Faro as a University City».

"Only in this way, it was concluded, will attract more students and the population will feel the University and the students as an integral and inseparable part of the Farense society", defended the movement.
Former mayor José Vitorino advanced at the meeting "with the proposal of a detailed global Protocol, instead of the issues being dealt with in a punctual manner, as has been the case."

«The subjects dealt with were vast, and the Academic Association's main concerns were: facilities for the practice of official sports; suitable places for Academic Week Parties and freshman reception; entrepreneurship and employability; promotion of Faro as University City; spaces for large initiatives; transport; safety; scholarships; etc,” added the application.

The creation of an Agency for Investment and Employment, which “will make it possible to make the connection in terms of internships and placement of recent graduates” and the attribution of scholarships to students, under a Social Fund to be created, were presented proposals.
