The PS became the party at the head of most Municipal Councils in the Algarve, having obtained 10: Alcoutim, Aljezur, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira and Vila do Bispo.

With this, the socialists also gain control and presidency of AMAL, the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve.

The CDU won a Chamber, that of Silves, which was once owned by José Viola. The PSD remained at the head of this municipality for 16 years, first with Isabel Soares, then with Rogério Pinto, more recently. In Silves, in addition to the Social Democrats, Fernando Serpa's Socialists were also defeated, as they ended up in third place.

The CDU, at the regional level, registered a good performance, electing five councilors, in Faro (António Mendonça), Vila Real de Santo António (José Cruz), Portimão (Nelson Freitas), Olhão (Sebastião Coelho) and Lagos (Luís Reis).

The Left Block also managed to elect two councilors, João Vasconcelos, in Portimão, and Ivo Madeira, in Olhão.

The CDS, in addition to having maintained the presidency of the Chamber, which it holds as the second force of the coalition, in Faro, elected in Portimão, through the Portimão Semper coalition, a councilor (José Pedro Caçorino) and was even the second most voted force, right after Isilda Gomes' PS, which maintains the Chamber, but only by a relative majority. In Portimão, Pedro Castelo Xavier's PSD was only the 3rd most voted.

The independent movements managed to elect two councilors – one in Lagos (Luís Barroso, from the Lagos com Futuro movement) and another in Albufeira (Ana Vidigal, from the VIVA movement).

But the big loser of the night, in the country and in the Algarve, was the PSD, which lost three Chambers to the PS (Alcoutim, Lagoa and Loulé), one to the CDU (Silves) and kept only five: Albufeira, Castro Marim, Faro, Monchique and Vila Real de Santo António.

The complete raze only escaped Faro, where Rogério Bacalhau (PSD associated with CDS, PPM, MPT and MIM) managed to be elected.
