The parish of Altura, in the municipality of Castro Marim, will host this weekend the first of the six Handcrafted Gastronomy Markets in the AAA Euroregion (Alentejo-Algarve-Andalusia), which will take place in these regions between the months of August and November.

This market, which will take place in the square next to the sports center (near Alagoa beach) on August 30th and 31st and September 1st, from 19 pm to midnight, and on Sunday morning, will have the participation of a twenty local producers from the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia.

Visitors to this cross-border market will be able to taste and purchase the most representative gastronomic products of the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia – jams, chocolate, products preserved in salt, honey, cheeses, salt, liqueurs, cakes, breads, in other words, a large sample of the rich gastronomy of the Euroregion.

The market is a leisure offer for the whole family, including workshops and children's activities.

It will also bring together small businessmen and producers from the border territory, to show the public its gastronomic offer, directly and without intermediaries, from producer to consumer, through this short marketing channel.

The Craft Gastronomy Markets project at Euroregion AAA, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Council of Andalusia's Council of Presidency and Equality, through the European Program for Cross-border Cooperation Spain-Portugal 2007-2013, aims to support SMEs and family businesses working in this sector and promote the sustainable tourism for these areas and the promotion and dissemination of the rich gastronomy of the Euroregion.

The project will officially open on the market to be celebrated in Ayamonte on September 20, 21 and 22, coinciding with the European Day of Cooperation (September 21).

Next are the markets in Almonaster la Real (Huelva), Faro (Algarve), Beja and Mértola (both in Alentejo).
