Children from 13 countries attended Summer School at Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura

A total of 190 children from thirteen countries – Russia, Romania, Canada, Israel, China, Netherlands, Italy, England, Spain, Belgium, South Africa, Israel and Portugal – attended another Summer School in July at the Colégio Internacional de Vilamoura.

This multicultural environment, experienced at the Junior School (for children between 3 and 5 years old) and at the Summer School (for children over 6 years old) has enriched all activities, from sports to the arts, from science to strategic challenges, from literature to philosophy, going through group outings, in a spirit of interaction where the child relates in a lively and affective way with the culture of other peoples.

«The number of students who chose the CIV and its vacation program is a reflection of the success of the work carried out in the past year and also a proof of confidence in the teaching and entertainment methods provided by a teaching team with recognized merit within and outside the country”, stresses the College in a press release.

Activities were organized around themes based on both vacation programs. In addition to the programming experienced in the CIV's laboratories and green spaces, the little ones visited the Centro de Ciência Viva, in Faro, the theatre, a cork factory in S. Brás de Alportel, the swimming pool, the beach and some theme parks.

Following the philosophy of the CIV Educational Project, which privileges the crossing of knowledge, and respecting the fun/learning binomial, the children had the opportunity to enrich their imagination with stories and works of plastic expression; create and bring materials to life through recycling; interact with animals in their natural space; visit a raw material processing company, gaining notions of sustainability; and take a few steps into fun cooking.

Cinema, the practice of sports, mother tongue and foreign languages ​​(Portuguese and English) and contact with the transforming world of science completed this holiday program accompanied by experienced professionals.

Among the older ones, other types of learning were promoted, always centered on the intersection of curricular areas: mathematics applied to the planets or the human body; the arts and plastic expression in a natural environment or in communion with theater and storytelling; walking routes combined with sport and biology; literature hand in hand with art; in addition to games, scavenger hunts, movie and comic book sessions, culinary and sporting activities, outings to the beach or theme parks.
