During July and August, the cultural association Download Platform the CineRua initiative is on display, a cycle of independent films that every Sunday, at 21 pm, transforms the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Library garden into open-air cinemas or, alternatively, the kiosk on Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque.

The idea, which has the support of the City Council, is to recover the tradition that Portimão maintained for many years, when the open-air rooms of Cine Parque and Cine Esplanada were operated on spring and summer nights, while aiming to attract people to the city center.

The poster on display in July ranges from the independent cinema of Richard Link Later (“Slacker 91”), documentaries such as “Latcho Drom”, a journey through the world of Roma culture and music, to “Arena”, the short film -film that awarded João Salavisa in Cannes and that will be presented together with the short films ”Now” and ”Des Majorette dans l´Espace”.

On the last Sunday of July, there will be a night dedicated to Blaxploitation Films, with the projection of “Super Fly” and “Bad Ass Cinema”, a documentary about the claims behind the films of this production company, with the perspective of the August program , to be announced in due course, will also be quite eclectic.
