Loulé will present the Municipal Merit Medal – Gold Grade to Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins, president of the Court of Auditors and the National Culture Center, in a ceremony to take place on July 26, at 19 pm, at the Salão Nobre dos Paços of the Council.

The recipient could not be present at the ceremony where the other municipal medals were handed out, last May, "for reasons of agenda", but will now receive it in person.

Taking advantage of his visit to the municipality of Loulé, Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins will then proceed to Querença, where he will participate in a dinner/debate at the headquarters of the Manuel Viegas Guerreiro Foundation, at 21 pm, under the theme “Viegas Guerreiro and its heritage legacy”. This initiative is part of the commemorations of the centenary of the birth of Professor Manuel Viegas Guerreiro.

«An outstanding figure in national life, Oliveira Martins has held various positions in his political career, including political advisor to the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Mário Soares, Secretary of State for Educational Administration, and Minister of Education, Finance and the Presidency. Despite being from Lisbon, he has strong family ties to the Municipality of Loulé, in particular to the parish of Boliqueime, where his mother was born, and where he spent most of the summer holidays during his childhood at his grandparents' house in Boliqueime . He considers himself a son of the land and remembers with pleasure that connection to Boliqueime», illustrated the Câmara de Loulé, in a press release.
