Lagoa City Council provided 1.235.860 euros to the Education sector in the 2012/13 school year, which starts in September.
Among the various support granted by the municipality, the largest funds go to the construction of a canteen and covered patio, with equipment, endowed with 312 thousand euros, for the school meals program (132 thousand euros), for school transport (130 euros). euros), and also for the hiring of educational assistants for kindergartens (125).
According to a press release, «within the scope of the competences of the City Council (CML), its Education Department advocates the connection between the education and teaching establishments of the Municipality and the CML, allowing the realization of interventions of different order and magnitude through the granting of financial support in the socio-educational areas, maintenance of the school park, acquisition of school furniture and teaching material and teaching equipment».
The autarchy adds that «this support includes the organization, coordination and monitoring of projects and monitoring of the implementation of programs, promoting partnerships with the various educational agents, with a view to an adequate and integrated intervention, in the interest of the educational community».
