João Estêvão (MCF/Xdream/Municipality of S. Brás) was the winner in masters 40 in the National Downhill Championship, which took place in Penela this Sunday.

The winner of masters 50 was Augusto Pedrosa (AD Jorge Antunes), but he did not win the title, as only three runners participated in this category. Margarida Bandeira (LCM Team Bandeira) was the best female athlete, winning the elite title.

In juniors Vasco Bica prevailed, in cadets Rúben Bandeira (Movefree/Shimano) beat his rivals, in masters 30 it was Hélder Padilha who did better.

The main event was won by the pilot Francisco Pardal (Evil Vegeance Tour), who won the National Downhill Championship, recovering a title that was his in 2011, but which, last year, he let slip to Emanuel Pombo (Liberty Seguros/Cetelem /cycle machine).

Francisco Pardal showed great superiority over his rivals on the Penela track, imposing himself in the qualifying heat and in the final.

The new champion completed the decisive down in 3m00s995, leaving Emanuel Pombo at 945 milliseconds. The third was José Borges (ASC/Bike Zone) at 5s041.

The collective national champion team is Liberty Seguros/Cetelem/Ciclomadeira.
