Tiago Botelho Martins da Silva, with a degree in economics, is the new executive director of the Barlavento Health Centers Group (ACES), according to order no. 7953/2013, published yesterday, the 19th, in Diário da República.

The order signed by Health Minister Paulo Macedo underlines the "technical competence, aptitude, professional experience and adequate training" of the nominee.

Tiago Botelho was appointed to the position for a period of three years, and the order takes effect the day after its publication, that is, the new executive director took office today.

Appointed as close to Luís Gomes, president of the PSD/Algarve and of the Vila Real de Santo António City Council, in whose municipal company he has worked, Tiago Botelho, despite his age, already has experience in the health area, having started as an assistant Secretary of State for Health Carlos Martins, in 2002 and 2003.

Tiago Botelho succeeds physician Rosa Gonçalves who, in late april, resigned, allegedly for not agreeing with the most recent guidelines of the Regional Health Administration for the sector.

A few days after Rosa Gonçalves resigned from the position, the remaining members of the Clinical Council of ACES Barlavento also resigned en bloc.
