PS/Loulé criticized the recent closure of the CTT station in Boliqueime, joining "the population's protest" and assumed "the commitment to fight with the competent authorities for the CTT station in Boliqueime to be reopened or, in the event of such intention does not succeed, so that the Parish Council can ensure the provision of postal and other services that were provided by the recently closed station».

The Socialists criticized the local Parish Council, which had known about the decision, "at least since December 2012", for its "passivity in monitoring the process" and for not having promoted any protest initiative "namely in the Municipal Assembly of Loulé, organ of local political power where the president of the Parish Council has a seat representing the population of Boliqueime».

"Equally harmful to the interests of the population was the fact that it rejected the possibility of the Parish Council being able to ensure the provision of some of the services, within the scope of a protocol to be negotiated with the CTT," added the Loulé socialists.

The PS guaranteed that "like the population, it was surprised by the recent closure of the CTT station in Boliqueime." And he accused the Government of being "determined to proceed with a blind and merely economic restructuring", in the CTT, "replacing the priority of providing a universal and quality service with obtaining the best price in the privatization business".

«The Political Commission of PS Loulé expresses its rejection of the political option of closure, either because this will represent a deterioration in the quality of the public postal service provided in the parish, or because the resident population, especially the elderly, will be seriously affected. affected by the deprivation of the proximity services offered by the Boliqueime station”, they illustrated.

In addition to services related to correspondence, they recalled, the company has other responsibilities, namely “the collection of pensions or the payment of various essential services (water, electricity, communications, etc.)”.

“In fact, the CTT stations represent, in many parts of the country, the only public and proximity service available to the population, thus performing an extremely important social function”, considered the PS/Loulé.
