The Brazilian duo made up of athletes Rodrigo Lacraia and Andersson Targino won the International Footvolley Meeting, the football world championship that took place at Praia dos Pescadores in Albufeira, from June 19th to 23rd.

The Portuguese were in a good plan and there were two Portuguese duos reaching the semi-finals, among the 18 in competition, representing six countries, but both lost to Brazilian teams.

In what is one of the biggest events in this sport in the world, which combines volleyball and beach football, Brazil confirmed its favoritism by placing two teams in the final.

The winners of the tournament beat the duo Tatá/Pião in the deciding game, by 18-7 and 20-18.

In the semi-finals, Tatá and Pião had eliminated the Portuguese Nelson Pereira and Miguel Pinheiro, while the Bruno Xavier/Xande duo lost to the team that became the champion of the tournament.

This last Portuguese duo ended up securing third place and also took the podium.

This International Footvolley Meeting had the particularity of having Luís Neto, a Zenit Saint Petersburg player and the National Team, and Ricardo, Académica's goalkeeper, in addition to other national and international figures from the football world who attended the competition.

«The stadium set up at Praia dos Pescadores was filled several times, not only with Portuguese spectators, but also with Brazilians, Spanish, English and many other nationalities», revealed the City Council of Albufeira.
