The Municipality of Portimão and the CVA – Algarve Wine Commission will promote tomorrow, Saturday, May 18, the gathering “There is wine from the Algarve”, which will take place between 18:00 and 20:00 at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes, to make known the wines produced in the Algarve, its characteristics and assets as a product and economic sector in the region.

The gathering will feature the participation of Hermínio Rebelo, chief sommelier of the Confraria dos Enófilos e Gastronomica do Algarve, who will speak on “The Quality of Algarve Wines”, and Carla Bernardo, graphic designer trained in Territorial Marketing, who will address the theme “Promotion of the Territory through a regional product”, followed by an exhibition/tasting of wines and other Algarve products.

This is the first of a series of initiatives that the Municipality, in partnership with CVA, will promote to support the production of Algarve wine and the municipality's gastronomic heritage, and it should be noted that there are three producers in the Portimão wine area (Quinta Morgado da Torre, Quinta da Penina and Herdade dos Pimenteis).

The objectives of this project, entitled “There are Algarve wines in Portimão”, are enshrined in the collaboration protocol to be signed next Saturday between the two entities, on which occasion the different initiatives already scheduled will be presented.
