The Municipality of Olhão promotes next week, between the 20th and 26th of May, in about two dozen restaurants in the municipality, from the coast to the interior, the XNUMXst Exhibition of Flavors of Olhão. It will be a week dedicated to gastronomy, where each participating restaurant will present on its menu a dish of mackerel (fresh or preserved), either as a starter or main dish.

The event, which will be attended by the renowned Chef José Cordeiro, takes place in around two dozen restaurants in the municipality, where mackerel is the main dish.

During these days, at participating restaurants, there will be a menu, consisting of starter, main course, drink and dessert, which will have the theme of mackerel, fresh or preserved.

As part of the Fish Valorization campaign – “CCL: The Best of Our Sea”, Docapesca is associated with the I Olhão Flavors Show, an initiative of the Municipality of Olhão that also counts on the collaboration of other local entities, such as the organizations of producers, associations of shipowners, canneries and producers of traditional salt.

In addition to the gastronomic part of the restaurants, other events will be held at various stages in the municipality, namely in EB 2,3 João da Rosa, Municipal Library Auditorium, Sociedade Recreativa Olhanense and Municipal Market (initiatives coordinated by Docapesca).

Thus, on the 21st and 22nd, workshops entitled “Fish is Health” are held in various schools in the county (11:00 am – 11:30 am) and a cooking class, with fresh and preserved mackerel, followed by tasting (11:30 am – 13:00 pm).

On the 23rd and 24th, students visit the fish market in Olhão (14 pm) and on the 00rd there will be a meeting entitled “Benefits of Fish for Health”, in the Auditorium of the Municipal Library of Olhão, with the presence of guest speakers from IPMA and the General Health Department, among others (23:18 – 00:20).

On Friday and Saturday, 23rd and 24th May, Mercados de Olhão will host cooking classes with fresh and preserved mackerel, in collaboration with the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School (10:00 – 12:00).

“Mar Portugal” is the name of the event, consisting of an exhibition and activities aimed at children and young people, which takes place at the Sociedade Recreativa Olhanense in collaboration with the Mission Structure for the Extension of the Continental Platform.

Between Thursday and Sunday there will also be night entertainment in collaboration with the city's bars.

This initiative by the Municipality of Olhão has a partnership with Docapesca, restaurants in the municipality and Real Marina Hotel & Spa.
