Two companies in the municipality of Albufeira, Sociedade Agrícola Viveiros do Foral and Avetunes Comércio de Produtos Alimentares, were visited last week by a delegation from the municipality.

These were two of the companies distinguished, in 2012, with the SME Leader and Excellence status, an award given by the Institute for Support to Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation (IAPMEI) and by Turismo de Portugal, in partnership with a number of banks, having as based on the best ratings and economic and financial indicators.

It is a seal of reputation that distinguishes the merit of small and medium-sized companies with superior performance in their area of ​​expertise.

For this reason, they were now visited by a delegation from the Albufeira Chamber, consisting of President José Carlos Rolo, the councilor responsible for the area of ​​Entrepreneurship, Paulo Dias, and some technicians from the Albufeira Entrepreneurship Office (AGE).

The program began in Paderne, with a visit to the Sociedade Agrícola Viveiros do Foral, which was also attended by the president of the local Parish Council Francisco Guerreiro.

The company has over 30 years of experience in the production of ornamental species, with emphasis on citrus ornamental plants, with which they lead in the Iberian market.

They specialize in seven different species and export 99% of their production to more than 30 countries in central and eastern Europe, which is equivalent to an annual average of around 1 million plants.

The Sociedade Agrícola Viveiros do Foral has 51 employees, has an area of ​​25 hectares, of which 20 are in operation and uses automated irrigation and fertilizing systems, and is certified in environmental terms.

Hosting visitors and explaining the company's position were Andrew Welch, owner, and Ana Pedro, Head of Production.

This was followed by a visit to Avetunes, a company that has its headquarters in the parish of Ferreiras and has facilities in Guia's Trade, Industry and Services Zone.

Jorge Vicente, president of the Ferreiras Parish Council, joined the delegation to visit Avetunes, a company dedicated to the wholesale marketing of meat and meat products, in particular poultry and veal.

It has 12 employees and distributes its products among the municipalities of Faro and Portimão. The host was the managing partner Sebastião Faria.

Visits to the PME Líder and Excellence in the municipality of Albufeira will continue until the end of the year.
