The conference cycle «(Re) Pensar Olhão» returns to Sociedade Recreativa Olhanense on May 4th, this time to debate the theme «Ria Formosa: Dangers and Wealth», with the help of university professor José Alveirinho Dias. Admission is free.

«The Ria Formosa is a protected area with the status of a Natural Park, its objectives are to preserve the lagoon system, protect the region's specific fauna and flora, migratory species and habitats, promote the orderly use of the territory and natural resources, contributing to economic, social and cultural development», framed the APOS – Association for the Valorization of the Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Olhão, which organizes the cycle.

“Like other protected areas, this ecosystem is under great pressure from man and faces serious pollution problems. Despite these problems, the Ria Formosa should be seen as a maritime cluster of great importance for the economy of Olhão”, added the association.

This will be the third session of the cycle of conferences launched by APOS, which in February was also attended by university professor António Covas, who spoke on the theme «The new challenges of local management» and in April he focused on the theme «The Baixa Comercial de Olhão – End of Commerce?”, with Vítor Matias being the guest speaker.
