The Rota Vicentina promotional video – Two Steps to Freedom – won the Golden City Gate award, given on March 7 in Berlin by ITB, the largest tourism fair in the world.

This video was released in 2011 with the inauguration of Rota Vicentina, a large pedestrian route that is being implemented between Santiago do Cacém and Cabo de S. Vicente and has already received more than 55 visits.

The project Rota Vicentina is promoted by Associação Casas Brancas, in partnership with Associação Almargem, the municipalities of Costa Alentejana and Vicentina, Regional Tourism Entities of Alentejo and Algarve, ICNF among many other public and private partners.

The video intends to communicate the essence of this project, which proposes a sensorial experience associated with the immense potential of this region, which is one of the largest, most beautiful and best preserved coastal areas in Southern Europe.

Moments of walking along different environments and landscapes, with trails along the coast and inland, gastronomy, people, tourist offer, identity and freedom – there are several ingredients that make up this video, but authenticity stands out above all. , which guarantees the visitor an experience with the potential to be, in everything, as exciting as that of the protagonist of this story.

The characters – including the protagonist – are represented by local people, who are available to give life to a project that is above all community.

A Rota Vicentina intends to affirm Costa Alentejana e Vicentina as an international destination for nature tourism, leading its future on a truly sustainable path and protecting its immense landscape, cultural and natural wealth.

The project has already won other awards, including the “Welcome to Portugal” Prize awarded by LIDE, the Merit Prize awarded by the British Guild of Travel Writers and the “Portugal Trade Awards” Publituris Innovation Prize, the latter awarded on the 7th of July at BTL.

The project's promoters foresee that the official Rota Vicentina website (www.rotavicentina.com) will be launched by the end of March and that the missing trails will be inaugurated (the entire Algarve region) during the spring.

This is a QREN initiative, supported in the Alentejo under INALENTEJO, with FEDER co-financing of around 244 euros, and in the Algarve under the PO ALGARVE 21, with an investment of around 140 euros and co-financing ERDF funding of around 90 thousand euros.
