The Motorcycle Club of Faro it already has Public Utility status, according to a government dispatch published on March 14 in Diário da República.

Collaboration with various institutions, in the areas of sport, health, education, culture, science and protection for people in need are some of the reasons given for this recognition. The organization of the largest concentration of motorcyclists in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the largest in Europe, an event that promotes tourism and hotels in the Algarve is another of the weighting points for this distinction.

José Amaro, president of the motorcycle club of Faro, in statements to Algarve University Radio, said that “we have been thinking about making a public utility request for many years now, from the moment we think we have worked for it, that we have, in fact, presented some service… It is not asking for public utility for the simple fact of asking, we ask because we were able to ask. For us it is a reason to be proud”.

The Motorcycle Club of Faro it has long had an important aspect of social support, which even includes support to social solidarity associations. “We have done several concerts at Motoclube de Faro in which the revenues have fully reverted to these associations. A fortnight ago, there were two bands that went there to play for an association and, a month ago, Stevie Harris, from Iron Maiden, had come, and the recipe was given to the Portuguese Red Cross. Within our possibilities, we try to collaborate as much as possible with these associations", said the director of Motoclube to FM STREET.

For José Amaro, the request for classification as a Public Utility was not intended to provide some benefits that may result from it, but rather to recognize the work they have been developing over the past 31 years.

However, preparations are being made for the 32nd concentration of the motorcycle club of Faro, taking place from 18 to 21 July in Vale das Almas.
