A 24-year-old man was arrested this Thursday in Quarteira by the Criminal Investigation Nucleus of the National Republican Guard of Loulé, indicted for the crime of drug trafficking and possession of prohibited weapons. The man was referenced and had been arrested before.

In addition to drug sales, the suspect was "strongly associated with the practice of theft in the town of Quarteira and surroundings, especially in homes and vehicles," announced the Territorial Command of Faro of the GNR, in a statement.

The arrest took place following a house search of a house in Quarteira where, among various stolen material, was found "a coat of arms of the National Republican Guard in metal, which may have been used by its bearer to pretend to be an agent of authority".

«During the house search, enough narcotic product was seized for 340 individual doses of hash, an alarm pistol, a defense aerosol, a stool, a TASER, 12-caliber cartridges, cold weapons, picks (commonly used in the practice of theft in vehicles), in addition to electronic equipment and various presumably stolen gold items», added the GNR.

The detainee was presented today at the Judicial Court of Loulé, having been subjected to the coercion measure of an Identity and Residence Term.
