The film “Tabu”, by Miguel Gomes, will be screened on February 15, at 21 pm, in the Small Auditorium of TEMPO, thus starting the “Cinema à 30ªs”, a regular schedule of independent films that, twice a year. month and always on Fridays, it will bring to the Municipal Theater of Portimão works of the 6th art by directors from all over the world.

“Tabu”, the film that opens the program at the Teatro Municipal de Portimão on February 15th, won the Critics Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2012, and continues to accumulate distinctions all over the world, having was recently chosen as the second best film of the year in the top ten promoted by the British magazine Sight & Sound, published by the British Film Institut, and elected by the French magazine Cahiers du Cinéma as one of the best films of the year.

In March, there are two feature films that have also garnered critical acclaim: the documentary “Women are heroes” by French street photographer and artist JR, winner of the 2011 TED Prize, which will be screened on 8 at 21 pm, date on which International Women's Day is commemorated; and “A better life” by Frenchman Cédric Kahn, which earned Guillaume Canet the Best Actor Award at the Rome Film Festival and which also won the Special Jury Award and Cineuropa Award at the Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival, to be presented on the day March 30th, also at 15 pm.

This is followed by “Cosmopolis”, by acclaimed Canadian director David Cronenberg, produced by the Portuguese Paulo Branco, on April 12, and the political thriller about the operation that led to the murder of Humberto Delgado by PIDE “Operation Autumn” by Bruno de Almeida , on the 26th of the same month.

On May 19, it will be the turn of the controversial and award-winning film by Leo Carax “Holy Motors”, which won the Best Film and Best Director Award in the fantastic competition of the Sitges Festival 2012, was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2012 and was chosen as the fourth best film of the year in the aforementioned Sight & Sound magazine's top ten.

This is followed by “Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu”, by the Romanian Andrei Ujica, winner of Best Edition of the 2011 Gopos Awards, to be shown on May 24th.

June brings “Elena” by the Russian Andrey Zvyagintsev, winner of the Special Prize of the Jury of the Cannes Film Festival 2011, on the 14th, and on the 28th it is the turn of “The Police” by the Israeli Nadav Lapid, winner of the Special Jury Prize of the Locarno Film Festival, for Best First Film, Best Screenplay and Best Photography at the Jerusalem Film Festival, and Audience Award at the Nantes Film Festival.

On July 12th, TEMPO screens “Ali, the hunter” by Iranian director Rafi Pitts, nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, while on the 26th, and closing the season before the summer, it's the turn of “O meu mais amigo” by Japanese Hirokazu Koreeda, who won the Best Screenplay Award at the San Sebastián Festival.
