TEMPO – Municipal Theater of Portimão will continue, in 2013, to stimulate cultural initiatives created by “prata-da-casa”, welcoming civic proposals and promoting partnerships with professional artists from Portimão, starting on January 25th and 26th, when the Spectator's Workshop presents “4 branches of a hand”.

By investing in partnerships with artists and producers, TEMPO last year presented a diversified program that attracted a total of 24.333 spectators to the 103 sessions held, 32 of which were carried out by artists or local entities.

Partnerships with artists and producers will continue this year, «seeking to counteract the crisis», stress those responsible for the Municipal Theater of Portimão.

“4 Branches of a Hand” is a theater of objects especially aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old and created by two artists from Porto, Fátima Mártires and Carla Travessa, with tickets ranging from 2,50 to 5 euros.

Also on January 26, and in the context of a partnership with the Lagos Music Academy, the Grand Auditorium of TEMPO will host, at 21 pm, the show “Flamenco” by the Andalusian group Pasión Flamenca, with tickets for 30 euros.

 

Arias from Brahms, Mahler, Schubert and Schumann to help Food Bank

 

On the afternoon of January 27, at 18 pm, “Love and sea” will be presented, a concert in which opera singer Kathrin Hildebrandt, accompanied by pianist Elizabeth Allen, interprets themes and arias by Brahms, Mahler, Schubert and Schumann, inspired by the sea ​​and in love.

Tickets cost 12 euros and the revenue goes to the Food Bank Against Hunger and the VidaMAIS Network Association.

In February, on the 2nd, Mário Daniel brings “Fora do Baralho”, a magic show for the whole family that mixes the art of illusion with scenic art and whose tickets cost between 12 euros (counter) and 14 euros (audience) .

On the 8th, Orquestra do Algarve presents a concert as part of the Soloist Cycle, under the direction of conductor Pedro Neves (10 euros), and on the 9th of February ACTA takes to the stage of the Grand Auditorium to present the piece by Yasmina Reza, “The God of Killing”, with tickets for 5 euros.

The program for the month of February ends with the world premiere of “Lago dos Cisnes”, on the 23rd, the new piece by Quorum Ballet, a company that is currently an unavoidable reference in Portuguese contemporary dance, with tickets between 10 euros (counter) and 12 euros (audience).

 

Comedy Kings Arrive in March

 

In March, a highlight is the play “Os Reis da Comédia”, a staging by Adriano Luz with José Pedro Gomes and Rui Mendes, among others, which on the 16th will bring a good mood to the Grand Auditorium, for the value of 15 euros.

On March 22, World Water Day, the Orquestra de Sopros do Algarve presents the concert “Água, a Seiva da Terra”, with tickets costing 6 euros.

Within the scope of TEMPO's educational project, Oficina do Espectador presents, on February 15th and 16th, “The girl who was different”, a dance workshop where Carla Lopes and Joana Cordeiro reflect on happiness and difference, starting from short film “Tragic story with a happy ending”, while on March 8th and 9th, Rita Rodrigues and her “Bicho da Malha” tell the new adventures of D. Rosalina, a lady who left the countryside for the city. both shows are priced between 4 and 6 euros.

 

Independent cinema on Fridays starts with «Taboo»

 

This quarter also has a new feature: “Cinema à 6ªs”, a regular schedule of independent films that will begin with the screening of “Tabu”, by Miguel Gomes, on February 15th, and which continues with “Uma vida bem” , by Cédric Kahn, on March 15, extending throughout the year, always with tickets for 3 euros.
