The short film «Catarina e os Outros», by Algarve director André Badalo, was nominated in six categories, including best film, director and actress, for the 3rd edition of the Shortcutz Lisbon Annual Awards, which will be delivered on February 23, at Music Box in Lisbon.

The director Andre Badalo he has already expressed himself “happy” with these nominations, in a comment shared on his Facebook page.

The film, which also stars Victoria Guerra in the cast, and also with Arminda Badalo and Rui Porto Nunes, was nominated in the categories of Best Film, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Photography, Best Sound and Best Original Music.

In the category of Best Film, «Catarina e os Outros» faces competition from «Grande Monteleone», by João Leitão, and «O Homem de Cabeça de Papelão», by Pedro Lino and Luís da Matta Almeida.

The short "Catarina e os Outros" has already won the Excellence Award at the Los Angeles Movie Awards 2011.

The Shortcutz Lisboa Awards are an annual event organized by Shortcutz Lisboa.

This year, the award ceremony will take place at the Music Box, a central and unavoidable space for Lisbon's urban and nightlife culture.

The Shortcutz Lisboa Awards are translated into a unique ceremony that distinguishes the best national short films that were in competition last year in the weekly sessions of Shortcutz Lisboa at the Bicaense Bar.

There are films nominated in 17 categories (including Network Shortcutz's Best Short of the Year and Network Shortcutz's Best Short), 46 nominated in total.

The prize will also be given to the Portuguese winner of the contest «Jameson Empire Awards Done in Sixty Seconds», who will represent Portugal in the grand final in London.

The Shortcutz Lisboa Awards party will have special guests, judges, actors and directors, as well as Slam Poetry, musical performances (sponsored by OFFBEATZ) and DJ to continue a night of partying.

André Badalo's filmography includes films such as Paper History (with Diogo Infante and Lúcia Moniz), a short film that won the Best Film Award at the Warsaw International Film Festival, shoot me (with Maria João Bastos and Ivo Canelas), who won the Best Film Award at the Milan International Film Festival, and Catherine and the Others (with Victoria Guerra), who won the Award of Excellence at the Los Angeles Movie Awards 2011.
