The Portuguese company Portugal Telecom occupies 97th position among the 1500 companies that are present in the world ranking of innovative companies, organized by the European Commission together with the annual report on Research and Development – Investment trends.
According to the report, which is based on 187 responses from large companies, European Union companies are still investing in innovation despite the crisis.
Worldwide, the consequences of the economic crisis were mostly felt in 2009, when private financial investment fell by 1.9%.
In the European Union, private financial investment increased by 8.9% in 2011, compared to 8.1% in 2008.
However, the European Commission is concerned about the consequences of cuts in the European budget and fears that investment in business innovation will be relegated to the background.
