A crew member with alleged symptoms of heart attack, was evacuated on the afternoon of this Saturday, the 8th, from the pleasure boat “Daiwa”, sailing about 11 kilometers south of Quarteira, by a high-speed boat belonging to the Maritime Police.

After the medical evaluation by the Mar Urgent Patients Guidance Center (CODU-MAR), it was decided to carry out a medical evacuation, with the Captain of the Port of Faro assumed the coordination of the action on the spot.

The 37-year-old crew member, Portuguese nationality, was landed at 16:30 pm at the fishing port of Quarteira, and then sent to the hospital in Faro, in an INEM ambulance, in a stable situation.

The evacuation was conducted by the Lisbon Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinating Center in coordination with the Captaincy of the Port of Faro .
