It's already next Saturday, December 1st, that the winners of the second edition of the Algarve Short Film Festival – CAL will be announced, an initiative of the Municipality of Olhão that takes place in the Municipal Auditorium of the city, from 16 pm.
The public will attend, in the first part of the event, the viewing of the best short films admitted to the competition and competing for the final prizes, which will be decided by the public and a jury composed of four elements.
Three prizes worth three hundred euros each will be awarded in the following categories: Best CAL Film 2012 | Jury (distinguishes the best film in competition at the festival according to the opinion of the jury); Best CAL Movie 2012 | Algarve (distinguishes the best film made by the Algarve, in the Algarve or about the Algarve, according to the opinion of the jury) and Best CAL Film 2012 | Público (distinguishes the best film in competition at the festival according to the opinion of the public, collected at the end of the presentations).
In this second edition of CAL – Algarve Short Film Festival, Olhão renews the responsibility assumed in 2011 of being the helmsman of cinematographic dissemination in the region.
CAL is an initiative of the Municipality of Olhão, organized by the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão and by the Youth House of Olhão, with the objective of encouraging the production and dissemination of cinematographic short-films at national and international level.
In its first edition, in 2011, CAL sought to stimulate regional production, in particular, by awarding short films produced in the Algarve, about the Algarve or by the Algarve. In 2012, CAL extends its scope to national and international productions, but maintains the importance given to the regional component through the attribution of a special prize to short films that fall under this condition.
