Tcheka, a young Cape Verdean author, composer and interpreter, is the guest of the second concert of the cycle «Cantautores», scheduled for Saturday, November 17, from 22 pm, at the Casa do Povo of Santo Estêvão (CPSE), in the interior of the municipality of Tavira.

This one of the great names of the new generation of Cape Verdean musicians will bring his latest work «Dor de Mar» to the Casa do Povo room. It is a unique opportunity to hear and see a singer from Cape Verde who travels to our country, as part of the Lisbon Mix, which the CPSE is also proud to be associated with.

The public will thus be able to attend the unique concert in the Algarve of this name of the world music, with his hoarse voice and inseparable guitar.

The "Cantautores" programming cycle, promoted by CPSE, started last November 3rd with a concert by portuguese B facade.

Known as Czech, Manuel Lopes Andrade, author, composer and performer of all his work, is back with the fourth album «Dor de Mar».

His name already echoed in Praia and in the Cape Verde archipelago since the beginning of 2000, having signed with the publisher Lusafrica in 2002. With his first album «Argui!», published the following year, Tcheka celebrates the rebirth of batuque, a traditional feminine rhythm from the island of Santiago, where it comes from.

Away from a more elaborate production, he rediscovers the virtues of the acoustic, in the delicious «Nu Monda» in 2005, for which he receives the RFI Musiques du Monde 2005 prize. alongside Lura, for whom he has already composed some themes.

Her voice fully reveals the versatility that characterizes it, with the disconcerting ease of moving in seconds from a melancholy intonation to a register of feeling of joy.

On a route made up of tours all over the world, Czech, poster of prestigious festivals, crossed paths and created complicity with some names in World Music, like the Brazilian Lénine, who would direct the production of his third album “Lonji”, published in 2007. In a challenge influenced by encounters and crossings Atlantic, this album reflects the cosmopolitan facet of Tcheka's personality.

Parallel to the recognition of his work, both nationally and internationally, Tcheka came to perfect for several years the twelve songs that make up this album «Dor de Mar», released in September 2011.

The cycle «Cantautores» will continue in the coming months, with concerts by JP Simões (7 December), Sebastião Antunes (12 January0) and Pucarinho (23 February) already being scheduled. In between, there may be other surprises in this program of the very active Casa do Povo of Santo Estêvão.

Admission to these concerts costs 5 euros, including a drink (beer, juice or water).
