Fernando Ruas, Mayor of Viseu and ANMP (National Association of Portuguese Municipalities), and Seruca Emídio, Mayor of Loulé, are the guests of the first session of the conference cycle “Autarquias de Futuro, Municipalities of Reference” organized by PSD/Loulé. This conference will take place next Wednesday, November 21st, at 21 pm, at the Eng. Duarte Pacheco Building, in the Municipal Assembly Room in Loulé.

For the first meeting of this cycle, the PSD/Loulé invited two mayors who are presented as “true examples of good governance, with prestige and recognition at local and national level”.

Fernando Ruas has been leading destinations in the Municipality of Viseu since 1990. «He managed to raise the level of development and economic growth in this municipality, breaking the barriers of isolation in the interior of Portugal», says the PSD/Loulé.
On the other hand, Ruas is president of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities – ANMP, «where he has played an important role in the defense of local power in Portugal».

Seruca Emídio is another guest of this session. The Loulé mayor directs the largest municipality in the Algarve and one of the most important nationally.

According to the Social Democrats, “their mandates have been marked by strong public investment in the construction and restoration of infrastructure, namely in the areas of health, education, social action and leisure”.

"The road network and basic sanitation were also a strong bet of this executive in the last decade, not forgetting the exponential growth of economic activity in the county, where it is considered one of the most valuable and an example in all sectors of activity, including Tourism, Hospitality, Industry, Commerce and Services».

Thus, the PSD/Loulé seeks, with this cycle of conferences, «to bring to the council mayors whose experience and achievement capacity is well known, thus showing positive and enriching experiences of the work they develop in their Municipalities».

In these meetings, say the social democrats in Loulé, "there will also be space for reflection on what will be the focus of the next municipal cycles, the future of local authorities and the role that mayors will have in the very near future."

The meeting will also feature the presence and intervention of the president of the PSD/Loulé, Hélder Martins, who considers that “this is an important way of preparing for the next municipal cycle. Let's listen to experiences and enjoy good ideas in an open way with the entire population».

The meeting will be moderated by journalist Ramiro Santos.

Admission is free.
