The artist Jorge Rocha will premiere on Friday, November 2nd, at 22 pm, at the Espaço Cultural of Teatro Experimental de Lagos, the show «Cadência», which also features Júlia Correia Lagos.
«Cadência» is defined as «a performative action that is inspired by a research developed by the artist Jorge Rocha on articles published in the newspaper Expresso in the first half of 2011, outlining a look at various codes relating to the situation facing the country, in an artistic approach of an experimental nature to the messages of the media».
It is a sequence that stems from the artist's interest in the performative universes of the concrete action of cooking and its relationship with Digital Culture, integrating in this case messages that allow discussion of political aspects of Portuguese culture.
Jorge Rocha explained to Sul Informação that this performance «is a sequence of remixed texts from the newspaper Expresso, interspersed with the production of popcorn», in what intends to be «a metaphor for the crisis». Curious to say the least.
In addition to being able to watch the performance on site (in the Cultural Space of the Teatro Experimental de Lagos), it can also be followed over the internet, as the artist will always have a camera filming what is happening and broadcasting in internet streaming.
In the last performance presented, the artist, in addition to the people who watched it live, had around 300 people going through his website throughout the show, so he hopes that this mix of newspapers and popcorn will reach similar numbers.
The «Cadência» project was developed within the scope of PRALAC – Annual Projects, which the artist developed at the Creative Activities Laboratory (LAC) and has the support of Xerem and the Experimental Theater of Lagos.
