The Lagoa Municipal Archive, located next to the Igreja Matriz, will restore the exhibition “Alfabetos do Mundo” between November 2nd and December 31st, given the success of the first exhibition (2006) with the public.

The exhibition presents the evolution of writing, being presented books, documents and explanatory panels on the main alphabets that, coming from the past, are used today.

Some of the most remote alphabets will also be presented, already in disuse, but which gave rise to the current ones, such as the Phoenician, Etruscan, Aramaic, Greek, Cyrillic, Jewish, Esperanto, Braille, Morse, sign language and many others.

Visitors can view the evolutionary structure of the alphabets as well as their dispersion around the world.

The Municipal Archive is open to visits, from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and from 14:00 pm to 17:30 pm.
