Richie Campbell, Ruth Marlene, La Plante Mutante, DJ Christian F and DJs Marta Rugby and Joana Best are the most famous names on the poster of this edition of Reception to Caloiro, which will take place in Faro, from the 22nd to the 29th of September.

In a year marked by the attempt to extinguish the practices in several Higher Education institutions across the country, Pedro Barros, president of the General Directorate of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg), addressed the Praxe Committees and appealed for them to ensure that practices are kept "within normality, not disturbing school activities and not jeopardizing the integrity of the freshman".

For the first week of Reception to Caloiro 2012, AAUAlg chose a concept more focused on integration with the University and the city of Faro, guided by welcome sessions by the rector João Guerreiro and the City Council of Faro, led by Macário Correia.

There will also be other activities around the city, while the traditional academic camp will be one of the highlights of this week.

In the second week, the practices will be accompanied by lively nights at the Recinto, located in the Municipal Swimming Pools of Faro, which will open every day at 21 pm.

In addition to the poster of more or less loud names, during the day and until the opening of the venue, there will be the traditional activities of this week (Academic Parade, Sapatada and Missa do Caloiro, Garraiada, Procession of Candles and Court of Praxe).

On September 28, Largo do Carmo will host the Monumental Serenade for the Opening of the Academic Year.

In a press release, AAUAlg says it counts on the entire academic community to make this Reception to Caloiro an unforgettable landmark in the history of the Academy and the city of Faro, striving for coexistence and respect for others and for academic tradition».
