A blood collection and registration of bone marrow donors is scheduled for Saturday, September 29, from 9:30 am to 13:00 pm, at Estádio José Arcanjo, in Olhão.
The initiative, which has the support of Olhanense, is promoted by the parents of Joana, a 4-year-old girl who is receiving treatment for the Leukemia that affects her.
On the event's Facebook page, the promoters say: «Hello everyone. Joana is my daughter and has Leukemia. Fortunately, no bone marrow transplant is planned, but lots of chemotherapy, which forces her to receive many blood transfusions during treatment to help her recover. Unfortunately, many children and adults who suffer from Leukemia need a bone marrow transplant, so we take advantage and we will proceed to register bone marrow donors in the same action. (Tomorrow it may be you who needs it!) I'm counting on you all! One for all and all for one!»
