Portimonense drew this afternoon to zero against Santa Clara and added the fifth consecutive game without losing to the II League. Alvinegro goalkeeper Márcio Ramos was the figure of the match with a set of good saves, including a penalty, which allowed the void to remain until the final whistle.

The first dangerous move came for the home team in the 12th minute by Simmy, but the Nigerian striker's header into the small area went wide.

Santa Clara responded in the 17th minute by Reguila, and in the 23rd minute by Alex, but Márcio Ramos denied the Azorean team the goal with two good saves.

Portimonense was once again close to the goal in the 44th minute. Vítor Gonçalves, in an individual play, overcame several opponents and shot hard from the edge of the area to a tight defense by Hélder Godinho. The ball fell to Simmy, but the shot took a long time to come out, and the forward allowed the cut to Santa Clara's defense.

Portimonense came back from the changing rooms less inspired and Santa Clara had more ball in the second half, but without creating danger. The exception was a penalty awarded by Paulo Batista for lack of Nelsinho on André Simões. Porcellis was called up to take the maximum penalty, but Márcio Ramos flew to his left side and made the save, denying Cervantes a goal on the rebound.

The last danger came to Portimonense. João Duarte went down the right, crossed for William who amended with his chest, but the Santa Clara goalkeeper denied the goal to the Brazilian striker with a save with his feet.

With this draw, Portimonense now has 11 points and is, as a condition, in eighth place in the II League.

Reactions:

Lázaro Oliveira, coach of Portimonense:

“The result fits. It was visible that in the first half we had the best opportunities. In the second half we tried to win the game, and we uncovered the blanket. Santa Clara took advantage of that and ended up dominating the game, but without dangerous situations except for the penalty. There was a physical breakdown in the second half, due to the accumulation of games.

Not wanting to apologize, but Santa Clara arrives here very fresh. We adopted an aggressive midfield strategy, with fast players on the wings. In the first half, we were superior, but in the second half there was a very visible break in the team. We ended up adding one more point, which fits our objective.”

Luís Miguel, coach of Santa Clara:

“We made an excellent game. It was away from home, but we played the game for the game. We knew that Portimonense was very motivated with the latest results and we had the merit of silencing the crowd, which has been pulling since the first minute, in a very beautiful field. Our second half was very good, but it tasted bitter because we couldn't win. Those who play like that will win many times”.
