Faro will be one of the hosts of this year's promotional action for the Lux Prize for European Cinema, following an invitation made by the European Parliament to the Cineclube de Faro. These awards, established in 2007, reward the best achievements in the European Union and the Algarve public will have the opportunity to see the winning films of the 5 editions of the Lux Award, in a cycle that will take place at the University of Algarve's Campus de Gambelas.

The Film Club of Faro involved the Algarve university in the promotional action and organized the Lux Festival, which starts on 2 October, with the screening of the first film to receive this award, the work «Do Outros Lado», by Fatih Akin. This is followed by "The Silence of Lorna", by the brothers Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne (October 4), "Welcome Welcome" by Philipe Lioret (October 11), "A Estrangeira", by Feo Aladag (October 18) and “The Snows of Kilimanjaro”, by Robert Guédiguian (25th).

Movies that will whet your appetite for this year's edition of the Lux Prize, which features the Portuguese film «Tabu», by Miguel Gomes, among the 3 finalists in the competition. All films from this cycle are screened at the UAlg's Grande Auditório das Gambelas, at 21:30 pm.
